Beechgrove Garden
Well Done!
Friday was the final day of filming and planting in the school for the Beechgrove Garden Project, and the whole school was out and involved for most of the day. We were kept busy clearing stones, planting, putting up scarecrows and cleaning mosaics. The children worked really hard and great fun was had by all (some children even suggested we should cancel lessons and go gardening all the time!). All this in front of the cameras too!
I was really impressed with the way the community and school pulled together and feel proud to be involved with such a great bunch of children, who were dedicated and enthusiastic in their efforts. Well done Kieran for being so patient, he had to dig and fill in the same hole for the scarecrow several times before the filming was complete! Thanks to all the wheelbarrow brigade, Scott Woodrow, Andrew, Katie, Cersty, James and Scott Wilson for ferrying heavy loads too and fro over the two days, and we now have a lovely collection of pottery pieces unearthed from the garden by Niamh, Emily, Emma and Molly.
Thanks to everyone who has taken part in the Beechgrove Garden project at the school over the past few months, without the commitment and hard work of lots of parents and locals the fantastic garden we now have would not have been possible. Special thanks to Mary McPherson, project co-ordinator, who has done so much to make this happen. Also many thanks to the Beechgrove Garden crew who helped us build this vision, and the Royal Bank of Scotalnd for sponsering the work.
I hope people will take the time to come and visit the garden over the coming months to see what we are doing, you can’t miss the bright coloured fence and lovely mosaic so why not take time to visit?
